What’s so wonderful hiking in North Georgia?Two Words: SCENIC WONDER!Appalachian Trail The Appalachian Trail (AT) is a wilderness footpath that extends some 80-miles through the scenic Chattahoochee National Forest. The entire AT is over 2,100-miles from Maine to Georgia. The trail is accessible at many locations as it winds along the rugged ridges around elevations of 3,000 feet and as high as 4,000 feet. Three Forks - Springer Mountain - In 1958 the southern end of the AT was moved from Mount Oglethorpe to Springer Mountain. Amicalola Falls Trail - Visitor to north Georgia are privileged to be able to hike to the southern terminus of the AT from the Amicalola Falls State Park. You can hike to the beginning/ending point of the AT on a 8.3-mile trail to see the bronze plaque with the Appalachian Trail (AT) logo. A shelter is provided for hikers.
