Lake Winfield Scott:

In One Word: Peaceful!

Lake Winfield Scott – This is a US Forest Service recreational area north of Suches that offers camping, picnicking, boating, fishing and hiking at a 18-acres lake in the Chattahoochee National Forest year-round.

The day-use area has picnic sites with fire rings and grills. There is a designated swimming area, a playground and a bathhouse.

There is a paved boat launch for electric motors only.

There are three hiking trails:

Jarrard Gap trail is a modernly difficult trail that is about one-mile round trip. It goes up to the Appalachian Trail at Jarrard Gap.

Lake Winfield Scott trail is less than ½ mile and is an easy trail around the lake.

Slaughter Creek trail is a 2.7-mile trail that is moderately difficult. It goes up to the Appalachian Trail and partially in the Blood Mountain Wilderness Area
